Decicon has been issued U.S. Patent # 6,809,851 for its "MEMS Driver", a novel IP block for electrostatically driving MEMS elements.

The MEMS Driver IP block interfaces the control electronics via a high-speed digital interface, and implements a high-resolution, high-voltage, multi-channel DAC within a small footprint. The digital interface can be multiplexed between a multitude of self-contained MEMS Drivers. These make it possible to situate the driver block directly underneath the MEMS element to be driven, opening way to large array implementations, previously hindered by excessive numbers of off-board D/A converters and of high-voltage carrying analog signal lines required to interface the drive electrodes. The MEMS Driver is compatible with CMOS technologies with HV transistors.
